Frankie Avalon at the LPAC
Frankie Avalon’s music and acting career spans more than 50 years, from his classic beach party movies with Annette Funicello, through a series of variety shows during the golden age of television, to his present day personal appearances. The Teen Angel character in the musical Grease was modeled on Frankie Avalon, and he starred in that same role in the 1978 hit movie version, performing a stunning rendition of “Beauty School Dropout”. With dozens of hit songs from the late 50s and early 60s, Frankie Avalon dominated the charts for years, with number one favorites including “Why” and “Venus”. One of the Teen Idols of the 50s, Avalon continues to entertain audiences worldwide, an icon in the history of American rock and roll music.
