Violin virtuoso Karen Gomyo, praised by The Chicago Tribune as "a first-rate artist of real musical command, vitality, brilliance, and intensity," takes center stage with Bruch's seductive First Violin Concerto, showcasing the full range of her instrument through intricate passages and rich flourishes.

Under the baton of accomplished conductor Xian Zhang, the LA Phil opens the night with the overflowing optimism of Wagner's Meistersinger Overture.

The evening concludes with Schumann's First Symphony, a buoyant farewell to spring featuring brass fanfares, a zippy scherzo, and tender harmonies.
