In celebration of National Public Works Week, the City of Lancaster is inviting the community to the Lancaster Maintenance Yard to learn more about the various aspects of Public Works. Lots of fun things planned for the entire family and it's an ideal event for kids (or those young at heart) who want to get an up-close look at some of the cool machines and equipment we use on a regular basis. The event is FREE and light refreshments will be provided.
This event will include educational tours, interactive exhibits, public works equipment on display, kids craft area, giveaways and more!
INFO FOR THE 2019 EVENT
- Arrive Early - The city has expanded this year's event to include more exhibits, demonstrations and kids activities.
They're expecting a much larger turnout so please plan on arriving early to avoid long waits and to ensure you have plenty of time to explore. - Be Prepared - A majority of the activities take place outside so please make sure to bring sunscreen and/or hat for your little one.
- Refreshments - Light refreshments will be provided. However, you may want to bring your own in case you or your child have any special dietary restrictions.
- Teachers & Administrators - Through the generous support of sponsors, the City will be providing free transportation for local students (limited bus sponsorships - available on a first come, first serve basis). To reserve a bus for your class, please contact the City of Lancaster at 661-723-6110.
- Age Groups - All ages are welcomed to particpate in the event but based on past experience, we would say the activities and exhibits at the event would be more appealing to the ages 2 - 11.
