Lunar Eclipse Viewing Party
The Antelope Valley Astronomy Club will host a viewing party, for the public, of the total lunar eclipse happening Sunday, January 20th!
In the parking lot of the SAGE Planetarium, weather permitting, we will have telescopes for your use, as well as coffee, cocoa, donuts and other treats.
The timeline of the event is:
6:36 PM , the Penumbral Eclipse begins as The Earth's penumbra starts touching the Moon's face.
7:33 PM Partial Eclipse begins. The Earth's shadow begins to cover the moon and the moon begins to get red
8:41 PM Total Eclipse begins. The moon is completely in the Earth's shadow and is completely darkened and red.
9:12 PM Maximum Eclipse. The Moon is closest to the center of the Earth's shadow.
9:43 PM Total Eclipse ends as the Moon as the Earth's shadow begins to move off the moon.
10:50 PM Umbral (Partial) Eclipse Ends.
11:48 PM Penumbral Eclipse Ends
